SERVICES
Concrete Performance and Durability
The causes of cracking in concrete at early plastic stage and in service, are different. Our experience in concrete mix design for special applications such as mass concrete, extended retardation, incorporation of steel fibers, evaluating the durability of concrete in service and recommendations to mitigate problems are our strength. Our advisory services include how to mitigate cracking for mass concrete pours and evaluation of corrosion of reinforced concrete in service.
Building Facade Condition Audits and Investigations
Building facades deteriorate during their service life. We investigate the problems such as seepage, delamination of finishes, loosening of facade components and often find that such problems could be the result of expiring of service life, wrong detailing, poor workmanship, bi-metallic corrosion. Clients have engaged us to carry facade audits as part of maintenance requirements or trouble-shooting of defects. We have our rope access teams and drones to supplement our inspection processes.
Specification and Repair Proposals
Many repair methods are available in the industry from structural strengthening to cathodic protection systems and we propose repair proposals based on the knowledge of the current condition and life expectancy required. Our recommendations and repair proposal often consider the remaining lifespan and economic costs needed, hence a life-cycle-cost estimate approach is useful for the Client's considerations.

PROJECTS
Crack lines appeared on the surface within a day after a concrete reactor foundation was cast. Our objective was to investigate and evaluate the extent of crack lines and its structural significance to the foundation and to provide recommendations for its repair. Initially instructed to be hacked away, the investigation revealed that the cracks were surface deep and did not affect the structural integrity. The foundation was repaired and put into operation.
A structural survey was carried out on a concrete barge pier built in the 1970s. Signs of widespread cracking and spalling of concrete were observed. Investigation was carried out to determine the extent of damage and life cycle costing (LCC) was carried out to assist decision making on the type of repairs. The Client benefited from the LCC that the lowest capital expenditure yielded the longest lifespan needed.
An underground reinforced concrete aquarium was constructed in 1991 and over time, new structures were added over it. It was necessary to strengthen the structure as a result. In 2012, the strengthening of the structure together with structural repairs were carried out. During the project, close attention by the Client, consultant and contractor to the care and detail towards the strengthening & repair works allowed the tourists to enjoy the resort without knowing that A&A works were on-going.
An international power project in Surabaya, Indonesia was beseeched with problems of restraint concrete cracking of the outlet and inlet canal walls. Our involvement as an independent party to assess the extent and severity of the cracking allowed the parties of the project to proceed with the evaluation of the cracking and repairs without undue delay to the project.
